5 Benefits Drinking Apple Cider Vinegar Has On Your Body

Hi everyone! Today I’m going to be talking about one of my staples, apple cider vinegar.

I’m sure you have it on hand already. If you don’t, go to the store and pick it up! It’ll only cost you about $5 (who doesn’t love inexpensive and NATURAL remedies?)

Now I’m only going to mention SOME of the amazing health benefits… not even going to include other uses (like for helping clear up acne- something I’ve struggled with since like 6th grade!)

If you’re new to ACV, you’re probably thinking, “you want me to drink this smelly shit?” Yes. Yes, I do.

I know, the smell is awful. The taste isn’t great either, but I’ll tell you how I drink it at the end of this post.

If I can do it, you can do it!

Here are some reasons why I LOVE this stuff:

Boosts weight loss:

Apple cider vinegar helps prevent your blood sugar spiking after having a meal with a ton of carbs.

High blood sugar=spiked insulin levels aka your body goes into fat storing mode. Boo!

ACV also increases satiety, which means you’re less inclined to stuff your face because you won’t feel the need to.

Dr. Aggarwal states, “A study published in Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry in 2009  found that obese people who consumed acetic acid daily for 12 weeks experienced significant decreases in body weight, abdominal fat, waist circumference, and triglycerides. “

(If you don’t know, triglycerides store fat and are associated with bad cholesterol.) Eww, no thanks !

But ACV’s got your back 😉

Restores the pH balance in your body

If you can remember from biology class, your body’s always trying to reach a state of equilibrium.

No, you don’t? Just me? My bad, I loved biology. What can I say? Trust me on this.

Apple cider vinegar is super acidic outside of the body, but inside of our bodies, it becomes alkaline in the digestive tract and helps our bodies fight against illness.

This also gives us more energy! A lower pH level (higher levels of acid) will result in lower energy levels. Since ACV helps restore your pH levels, you get in a little boost!

It helps detox your body

This bad boy also helps with cardiovascular circulation and flushing out toxins from your body (especially with your liver)

Fights against Candida (yeast) overgrowth

Candida (yeast) is found naturally occurring in our bodies.

An overgrowth of this can cause a lot of problems: yeast infections, toe fungus, thrust (just to name a few) Um? Ew? Disgusting!

This source says: “Some research shows that the acid and enzymes in Apple Cider Vinegar help kill excess yeast in the body. For those with severe yeast problems, the symptoms may get worse initially when they begin taking ACV. This is caused by the die off of the yeast, called a Herxheimer reaction, when the body can’t remove the toxins from the yeast fast enough. It is actually a good sign, though an uncomfortable one. If you suspect you have yeast overgrowth, consider taking 1 tsp- 1 TBSP of ACV in water before each meal or twice a day, preferably on an empty stomach.”

Helps your body absorb calcium

One of the main ingredients in apple cider vinegar is acetic acid. Acetic acid can help our bodies absorb nutrients!

According to LIVESTRONG, it “assists with the absorption process by mixing calcium and magnesium to form a highly absorbable calcium compound.”

Dilute it with something.

Nobody wants to burn their esophagus. Ouch!

How do you drink it?

So, I started drinking ACV after I purchased the Tone It Up! Nutrition Plan like…. 5 years-ish ago?

I don’t know, something like that. It was when I got my first credit card and all my 18 year-old self wanted to do was shop.

I guess not much has changed 😉

I drink this little morning cocktail first thing in the morning, right before breakfast.

Here’s the recipe:

1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

4 oz pineapple juice

juice from 1/4 lime

1 tsp honey

Start with the pineapple juice, add all the other ingredients and stir!
Add some ice if you want!

Hope I gave you some good info!

I’m off to cuddle and annoy Dylan
